Airport service quality matters a lot in attracting tourist or customers finding it a quite comfortable to stay even though they could have a straight flight nonstop to their respective location but some how an airport quality is too appealing that the passengers would be forced to take flight which has a stop in any of the Pakistani airport so that they can relax , do their shopping etc .The international airports have many gates like Heathrow airport etc that it itself starts to generate revenue or helps in improving the qualities of an airport where these airports have 300 gates and we have only 3 or more, you know the gates themselves are paid parking spots and parking these planes including jumbo jets needs maintenance , refueling etc which can in turn leads to job of maintenance crew and others .So the more the gates the better they help in earning revenue .
Secondly the airports just itself doesn't include piece of land and a building but it also contains the planes and its crew (including pilots and maintenance crew) they need to be trained continuously over time, by training doesn't mean they should be locked up in a 6 month course or paper but they should be rather trained in an environment that they themselves share their experiences , their errors mistakes etc and they should make some strategies to improve them especially in contingency situation.Like looking at the airport gates examples the pilots and crew member should be capable enough to do all the maintanence on time and the pilots to departure and arrive the plane on time which will make a great reputation about the plane , the airport and most importantly they are the flag carriers they will improve our country's reputation and further more delaying time in the name of maintenance and plus departing and arriving late at the destination would cost them money and would degrade our reputation.
Another point which I would like to raise is that the airport is the place which shows the 90% of the country image in that place , while looking at our Islamabad airport it resembles like a army command or infantry center or like its a total chaos spread there , those barbed wires , bomb proof walls and security personnel every where scares a lot of people including me , it makes me think of this place as a least place to visit seriously.Well I also know our country's security situation but its not that worst which is being picturaized at the airport , I am not against the security but it should be presentable . The airport itself is a business point there should be shopping area where big companies would set up their products from clothing to perfume and it is profitable as it is being set up by all the international airports.T he tourist and the passengers mostly love our traditional and custom products like ajrak, Sindhi topi and biryani etc. The airport should be a little away from the city to avoid all the traffic jams etc.
Follow these tips and our airports would at at peak in airport quality rankings , if our airline could train an international airline to be no 1 then why not us.
